Tama The Train Conductor Car dies and people make a shrine.

The cat was a mascot of a little train station in Japan.
2.
The station Kishi got out of debt cause of Tama. She is said to make 1,1 BILLION Yen.
3.
They changed the station to look like a cat...

... and the train to look like this for more tourists to come; and that clearly worked.
5.
Tama died at the age of 16, and over 3 thousand people came to say goodbye to her.
6.
But that's not enough for the Japanese - she is buried in a temple now and they say she was an incarnation of a goddess.
