It's no secret that the state of gaming isn't great these days, but that doesn't mean we don't still love them all the same. 

No matter how much gaming becomes play-to-win, subscription-based, loot box dependent, multiplayer exclusive, battle pass-oriented or unplayable glitchy garbage, we will always have a soft spot for great video games, and the irreplaceable part they played in our formative years. Playing Halo LAN parties and split-screen multiplayer on Star Wars Battlefront II will always be some of my fondest memories. It's those feelings we hold onto every time we shell out 70 bucks or more for the latest copy-paste of FIFA, or the most recent Assassin's Creed. Because part of us believes that maybe, just maybe we can recapture the magic one more time. 

Unfortunately, nostalgia is impossible to replicate, and new games will never be the same as what we loved as a child. But that's why we have memes; to remind us of both the positive and negative feelings we get from video games.
